Our story

From the first sketch to a decentralized H₂ solution in real operation

What began as an idea is now in use: A completed, ongoing pilot project provides reliable data — supported by team building, practical proofs and partnerships with industry and municipalities.

12.2020
Founding of GHT

Harald Mayer founds Green Hydrogen Technology.

01.2021
Basic Design der Pilotanlage

The basic design of the GHT pilot plant is underway.

05.2022
Start of construction of the pilot plant
10.2022
Feasibility study certification

TÜV Süd has tested the production process for processing hydrogen from wood waste. The process therefore meets the requirements for certification.

11.2022
Commissioning the pilot plant

The first tests on an industrial scale are being carried out in Leoben (Austria).

09.2024
Partnership with RheinEnergie, hylane (DEVK), and ETG, supported by the BMWK

With RheinEnergie, hylane and ETG, GHT was able to gain strong partners in a first round of financing. Together, the first plant is being built that converts waste into climate-neutral hydrogen and thus initiates the market entry of “hydrogen made in Germany.”

09.2024
Topping-out ceremony for GHT's first facility in Baden-Württemberg

With the topping-out ceremony of our first facility, we have made the future tangible. What began as an idea has become a real-world site where waste is already being converted into green hydrogen today.

07.2026
GHT secures funding for further growth

Arboris has joined GHT as a long-term investor, securing the funding for its next phase of growth. With this fresh capital, GHT is accelerating the industrial scaling of its technology for converting non-recyclable waste into climate-neutral hydrogen and implementing further large-scale projects within the waste management sector.
