Arboris GmbH & Co. KG ("Arboris"), the Tschira family office, is joining Green Hydrogen Technology GmbH ("GHT") as a long-term investor. The partnership aims to drive the industrial scaling of GHT’s technology, which converts non-recyclable waste into climate-neutral hydrogen and usable CO₂ on a decentralized basis.
GHT is pursuing a novel approach that bridges the circular economy and the energy transition. Instead of incinerating or landfilling non-recyclable waste, it is used as a local resource and converted into hydrogen on-site. The facilities are built exactly where the waste is generated, creating decentralized and independent energy hubs that strengthen regional value creation and open up new opportunities for the hydrogen economy.
With Arboris coming on board, GHT is positioning itself for its next phase of growth to accelerate the industrial scaling of its technology and implement upcoming projects in the waste management sector. At the same time, GHT is adding another relevant and complementary partner to its investor base. The company already brings together strong partners from the energy, mobility, and waste management sectors, including founder and entrepreneur Harald Mayer, RheinEnergie AG, hylane GmbH, and ETG Entsorgung und Transport GmbH.
"Throughout our discussions, we have come to know Arboris as a value-driven investor with a long-term perspective," says Robert Nave, CEO of GHT. "We were particularly impressed by the combination of their entrepreneurial values, their commitment to enabling sustainability for future generations, and their conviction in fostering technological strength from Germany."
says Robert Nave, CEO of GHT.
GHT simultaneously addresses three of the most pressing challenges of our time: the growing burden of plastic and waste, the need for climate-neutral energy sources, and the necessity for resilient, regional energy systems. Demand from the waste management industry shows that this approach is meeting with significant market interest.
The investment comes at a time of increasing market momentum. At the beginning of the year, the first commercial GHT plant was successfully commissioned. Next year, a family-run waste management company from Southern Germany plans to work with GHT to realize one of the most significant decentralized hydrogen projects in the German SME sector.
The project is set to process over 20,000 tons of non-recyclable waste annually and produce over 2,000 tons of hydrogen from it. Further projects are currently in the planning stage.
